I’m back in California’s Antelope Valley, spending the day in Quartz Hill with a new client, Westside Union School District!

This district serves approximately 9,000 students across 13 schools spread over an incredible 346 square miles! To put that in perspective, that’s a larger geographic area than the city limits of Chicago or New York City!

Today, I have the privilege of delivering 8 hours of professional development for their Child Nutrition Department!

☀️ Morning Session: Four hours with the entire Child Nutrition team, focusing on building stronger teamwork, adapting to change, delivering extraordinary customer service, and developing the attitudes and habits that make work more enjoyable and rewarding.

🎯 Afternoon Session: Four hours of leadership development for managers, assistant managers, and central office staff, focusing on the skills needed to lead people, build great teams, communicate effectively, and create a positive workplace culture.

I love working with school nutrition professionals! These are the people who fuel student success every single school day, and investing in their growth, leadership, and professional development is an investment in the entire school community.

It’s going to be a full day of learning, laughter, and practical strategies people can put to work immediately!

I get to speak at some pretty interesting places, but I don’t think I’ve ever spoken at a venue that was guarded by a tank! Today I’m speaking at Camp Withycombe, a historic, 77-acre military installation located at the base of Mount Talbert in Happy Valley, Oregon. Established in 1909, it serves today as a major logistical, training, and readiness hub for the Oregon Army National Guard.

I’m speaking for the Oregon School Nutrition Association on the topic “Navigating the Stormy Seas of Change.”

Close to home today at Gorilla Glue headquarters in Cincinnati!

I’m working with their Global Product Stewardship team - professionals in Quality, Regulatory, Claims & Testing, Consumer Affairs, and Project Management. Their work plays a crucial role in delivering the quality and reliability people expect from Gorilla Glue.

Our session: “The Power of Partnership: How Extraordinary Teammates Communicate, Adapt, Take Ownership, and Get Things Done.”

Today kicks off a two-part training series, and I’ll be back next month. One of my favorite things about working with a team over multiple sessions? Homework! 😄

They’ll have time to put new ideas into practice, try different approaches, and return with real examples of what worked and what challenged them. That’s where the ideas become habits and the training makes a lasting difference.

Great day in Sioux Falls, South Dakota today speaking for an extraordinary organization - Sanford Health! They are the largest rural health system in the United States. The organization has 60,000 employees and serves more than 2.5 million patients across the upper Midwest including South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wyoming, Iowa, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

They have an impressive network of 60 hospitals, 315 clinic locations, 145 senior care communities, and 4,900 physicians.

This is their annual “Improvement Symposium.” I did a keynote address called “The Secrets of America’s Happiest and Most Effective Healthcare Professionals,” and a breakout session, “Creating a Culture of Execution.”

I’m in beautiful Mooresville, North Carolina today, speaking for a new client, Mooresville Graded School District!

I’m facilitating a five-hour leadership skills workshop for site managers and assistant managers from nine schools serving 6,000 students.

It’s a challenging leadership role. These managers have to balance district-wide standards, USDA regulations, operational demands, and the unique challenges that come with leading a different team of personalities in every kitchen.

Today, we’re focusing on practical leadership skills to help them build stronger teams, develop trust, improve communication, navigate difficult situations, and empower themselves and others to execute with excellence every single day.

I love working with the people who lead the teams that make school nutrition happen!

I’m in Traverse City, Michigan today, on the last stop on my Summer Speaking Tour! I’m doing a 2-hour training session for employees of several area school districts on teamwork, handling change, customer service, and attitude! Excited for a great morning of learning and development!

What a day in Maryland yesterday! I am profoundly grateful that I have the opportunity to make an impact in the lives of others. I am such a flawed and imperfect person, and sometimes I don’t feel worthy to be giving other people advice about life. But when I take my eyes off myself and try to be a blessing to others, I feel like God is using me to change the world. These folks were awesome!

I’m in Harford County, Maryland today, speaking for an extraordinary team of Child Nutrition professionals who serve 37,000 students at 55 schools! I’m doing a session for the whole team called “How to Have More Fun, Less Stress, and Make Time Fly at Work!” Then I’m doing a breakout session on leadership for all of their managers, supervisors, and central office staff! This is an extraordinary program filled with great people doing amazing things!
