I regret to inform my fellow 71 Cavaliers that our classmate Steve Wetherell has passed away.

He died on July 7th of this year in Ruskin, FL. Steven suffered from Alzheimer's these last few years. He is survived by his two daughters, Kelly and Melissa, and 5 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. https://neptunesociety.com/obituaries/ft-myers-fl/steven-wetherell-12962374

Steve grew up in Norwood and Hyde Park and attended St. Matthew’s, then St. Mary's before he arrived at the Castle.

Steve played Varsity Tennis for four years at Purcell and was a standout player. I don't have exact stats, but I only recall him losing a few times. He played on the same team as state champion John Peckscamp. He and Mike Geraci made a run at the Ohio State doubles title, winning in both the district and regional tournaments. Less well known, he was also a good pick-up basketball player.

Steve got a degree at UC in 1984, and, raised his family in Cincinnati, he moved to Florida in 2004, where he lived the rest of his life. Click on the link above to leave a memory or a photo for his family and friends.

May he rest in peace.

Brotherhood beyond the classroom.

Members of the Purcell Class of 1965 recently gathered for a special visit to the Fairfield Township Veterans Memorial, where they toured the memorial, reflected on its meaning, and celebrated the dedication of classmate Fred Valerius in honoring those who have served.

The day continued with lunch, laughter, and plenty of stories—a reminder that while decades may pass, the bonds forged at Purcell remain strong.

Thank you to the Class of 1965 for sharing this meaningful reunion with the Purcell Marian family! ❤️💙

Some sad news, Bobby Rigdon has passed.

I was always impressed with his dedication to running and cross country. I was surprised to see him in the middle of winter running to Purcell from Madisonville.

May he rest in peace.

A well attended lunch just happened at The Mound.

I see Mike Morehead, and along the back Mark Bauer, Bob Mahoney … Nick Yankowski?

Okay, I’m lost now. Wait, Ed Schwin, Larry Trame.

Fill in the blanks!
