I haven’t shared the Ketubah process in a while. This Ketubah was created for a couple whose wedding took place in Colombia, where the bride is from.
I had created an original Ketubah for two of the groom’s siblings and now it was his turn.
I love meeting with a couple, often virtually, and getting to know them through this process.
I work with them to create a personalized Ketubah, expressing what is most important to them.
In these images, you see the tightened pencil drawing, and then the colored pencil plan, looking through the text layout, and then beginning the final actual Ketubah.
As it all came together, I could see the story this couple wanted to tell: their dreams, their love, their lives.
May this Ketubah grace their home as their love graces their lives.

Evolution of an original Ketubah…
Starting with pencil drawing and then the colored pencil plan, working through the rough layout of the text, and after a few drafts, getting it to work. Then the actual lettered text.
At last, starting to paint the drawn down art… and the excitement of seeing it come to life. Finally adding the gold ink, and now it’s at the framers getting a mat!
Mazal tov to this bride and groom!

In this orignal Ketubah, the hand lettered text, in Hebrew and English, is surrounded by a symbolic “Tree of Life” border, with the quote “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine” in Hebrew at the top.
The couple enjoys nature, and the “scene” is set by a stream with their sweet pet dog, Sadie, on one side of the text, and their two bikes on the other, near the stream.
