“The iAspire program is one of the single best tools that I have worked with in my career that allows principals and district leaders to become more visible, more involved, and better able to coach, develop, and refocus the organization…”
~Craig Hockenberry, Superintendent

“With iAspire I am able to send each teacher feedback on the observation along with a video before I leave the classroom. The observation becomes more meaningful because there is immediate feedback which also reduces any anxiety that all teachers, whether beginning or experienced, feel with a supervisory observation.” ~Kathleen Donovan, Principal

“The best thing about iAspire is the simplicity of use. It allows me to observe my faculty and concentrate on what is happening in the classroom... Thank you for creating software that is easy to use and works well.” Tonya Peters, Principal

As we rapidly approach the start of another school year, let's be mindful in showing gratitude and appreciation to our amazing educators!

Unfortunately, less than 1/3 teachers report being shown gratitude on a regular basis - let's fix that!

The conventional thinking that summer vacation was enough to help teachers and principals recharge is a myth. Burnout symptoms will persist when people return to the same environment, demands, and culture that created the burnout in the first place. So there's a clear and obvious need to focus on an

It’s not what happens to us that matters. What matters most is how we choose to interpret what happens and who we become as a result.

When you notice you have a strong emotional response to something, notice, name, and track it. A simple way of doing this is by using using the when, where, what-you-felt system.

WHEN did you notice your strong emotions?
WHERE did you notice it?
WHAT did you notice?

A few examples include,
- When I'm in the car listening to the news, I get anxious
- When I see this person's post on social media, I get jealous
- When I'm alone at home, I feel really down

Your beliefs impact how you feel. If your beliefs are irrational, they can trigger and amplify uncomfortable emotions in the midst of difficult and challenging events. It's important to identify irrational beliefs because it's not the event, but your interpretation of the event that causes your emotional reaction.

Beliefs --> Thoughts --> Emotions

Some common irrational beliefs include
- I am only as good as what I achieve.
- If he/she doesn’t love me then I’m worthless.
- Other people should follow the rules I know to be right.
- It’s not okay to have this feeling. I should just be happy.
- The problems in this relationship are all my fault/their fault.

As you think about your current circumstances, which (if any) of the above irrational beliefs do you identify with?

How are you providing feedback to teachers during this remote instruction environment? Have you incorporated video into your feedback processes?

One struggle in particular is how to provide teachers meaningful and relevant feedback about their instruction. Previously the logistics were easy - walk into a classroom, capture what was happening in the classroom, and provide feedback. That’s simply not possible right now.
