The Walker Elementary PTA Nominating Committee has presented the proposed Executive Board slate for the 2026–2027 school year.

We are incredibly grateful to the members of the Nominating Committee for their thoughtful work and time spent identifying dedicated volunteers to help lead our PTA next year. Your effort and care for our school community are truly appreciated.

The election will take place on Tuesday, April 28th from 6–7 PM at Walker Elementary. All PTA members are encouraged to attend and participate.

Hurricane Helper of the Month: Heather Zimmerman

Walker PTA is proud to recognize Heather Zimmerman as our Hurricane Helper of the Month! Heather’s heart for service started early, as the daughter of a retired first-grade teacher who modeled the importance of being involved. Since her oldest child began school in 2013, Heather has been an active PTA member across the United States, embracing every role she’s taken on — big or small — with enthusiasm and dedication.

Here at Walker, Heather’s favorite place to serve is alongside Mrs. Neal in the media center. A true bookworm at heart, she loves being surrounded by stories and helping young readers discover their next favorite book or character. Her passion for literacy and love of reading shine through in the way she connects with our students.

Heather believes PTA volunteers are an integral part of the school community. She recognizes that when students, parents, teachers, and administration work together as one team, educational success follows. Her commitment to partnership and teamwork embodies the very spirit of Walker.

One of the things Heather loves most about Walker Elementary is its small-town feel — the way families can truly get to know one another and be actively involved. And her advice to anyone considering volunteering? Do it! There are so many ways to help both inside and outside the school, and she hopes others will find as much joy in serving our community as she has.
