Today, we honor and celebrate Juneteenth — a day that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and recognizes the ongoing pursuit of freedom, justice, and equality.
At Maraya Performing Arts, we believe the arts have the power to amplify voices, build understanding, and bring communities together. We are grateful for the countless Black artists, educators, performers, choreographers, musicians, writers, and visionaries whose contributions have profoundly shaped the performing arts and continue to inspire generations.
As we celebrate this important day, we also reflect on the work that remains to create a more equitable and inclusive world where every person has the opportunity to be seen, heard, valued, and celebrated.
May we continue to learn from one another, honor our shared humanity, and use creativity as a force for connection, healing, and positive change.
