Scott W McClain
In memoriam: Firefighter Scott William McClain lost his battle with an aggressive work-related cancer on Oct. 23, 2020. He sacrificed his life serving others as a firefighter.
FF. McClain was a homegrown hero. He grew up in Eagle River and joined the Chugiak Volunteer Fire Department at the age of 16 as a Junior Firefighter. He served there until getting hired on with Anchorage Fire Department in 2001. FF. McClain also worked for the State of Alaska, Division of Forestry, as a wildland firefighter out of Mat-Su Forestry. He was passionate about helping his peers and friends with service-related trauma and health and was an integral part of the Soldier’s Heart Program, supporting first responders with critical incident stress.
