🐝 Somewhere in this pile is a finished quilt. I promise. 😂

This is the not-so-glamorous part of sample making—the cutting, piecing, pressing, trimming and the inevitable moment when you look at your table and wonder how ALL of that is supposed to turn into a quilt!

I'm still busy sewing samples as I get ready to represent Robert Kaufman Fabrics at Missouri Star Quilt Company's Birthday Bash, and my sewing room is definitely earning its keep.

Right now? Lots and lots of pieces.

Soon? Finished samples headed to Missouri! 🧵✂️🐝

There really is something fun about watching the chaos slowly turn into the vision you had in your head.

🐝 BLOCKBUSTER #34 REVEAL!

Remember that quilt kit I broke up with? 😂

Well... the fabric came with me.

I took that beautiful fabric, made four Evening Shadow blocks, played with a few design choices and turned them into something I'll actually use—and proudly hang behind me in my office. 💛

And there were definitely a few surprises along the way... including a Shaded Four Patch that made me look at an old friend in a whole new way!

🐝 Apparently preparing for ONE thing at a time isn't how I operate.

While Birthday Bash samples are taking over part of my sewing room, retreat prep is happening right alongside them!

Cut. Sew. Press. Stack. Repeat. ✂️🧵

There are a lot of pieces in this stage that don't look like much yet—but I know where they're headed. And watching all those little pieces eventually turn into something beautiful is still one of my favorite parts of quilting.

Welcome to my cutting and pressing room!

Is it perfectly staged for social media?

Nope. 😂

Is there fabric on the cutting table, projects waiting their turn, rulers everywhere, an iron ready to go and about 47 things happening at once?

Absolutely.

This little room sees A LOT—class prep, samples, Blockbusters, retreat projects, embroidery and whatever else I've decided I need to start before finishing the last thing. 😉

I thought you might enjoy seeing where some of the behind-the-scenes work actually happens.

🐝 What’s buzzing this week?

Birthday Bash prep. And LOTS of it. ✂️🧵

I’m getting ready to head to Missouri Star Quilt Company's Birthday Bash, where I'll be representing Robert Kaufman Fabrics—and before I get to stand in the booth and have all the fun, there are samples to MAKE!

Right now, that means pieces, points, fabric everywhere and a whole lot of sewing happening behind the scenes.

This is the part you don't always see before an event—the pile of pieces before they become something worth hanging in a booth. 💛

🐝 It’s a Stitching Hour kind of day!

Today I’ll be on Zoom teaching, stitching, and having all kinds of fun with The Stitching Hour and The Little Shop of Stitches!

And can we just talk about this little guy? 💚 I love seeing a project come together, but sometimes it’s the tiny details that make me happiest.

That striped zipper! 😍 Seriously. How cute is that?

That’s one of my favorite things about embroidery—there’s always another little detail, technique, or idea to explore.

Remember that quilt kit I told you about?

I loved the FABRIC.

The pattern? Welllll… let's just say we'd grown apart. 😂

So instead of leaving that beautiful fabric sitting on the shelf, I decided to explore what ELSE it could become.

Have you ever bought a quilt kit because you absolutely LOVED the fabric...

…and then later realized you weren't nearly as excited about making the pattern? 🙋‍♀️

Here's your little bit of Bee Wisdom for today:

🐝 You are allowed to change your mind.

That beautiful fabric doesn't know what pattern it came with. 😉

Pull it out. Look at it again. Try a different block. Practice a technique you've been wanting to learn. Turn it into something that fits the quilter you are TODAY.

I've been doing a little of that myself lately.

A little quilting, a little embroidery, some teaching, and—because apparently I don't know how to have just ONE project going at a time—a few things scattered around my sewing room. 😂

I'm getting ready to share another peek at Blockbuster #34 this week, AND Friday I'll be spending some time in the embroidery world with The Stitching Hour.

Basically... a perfectly normal Busy Bee week. 🐝
