Tonight at the art walk I met Mindy Childers who recently started this fun business. It’s definitely worth checking out! She has 22 years of experience teaching art in schools and she offers several ceramic classes as well as other art mediums.

I often cannot accommodate all the families who have contacted me to teach art to their children, especially kids younger than 9. If you’re looking for another artsy outlet, Poky Kidz Art may just be the thing you’re looking for.

Our Masters Copy class is finished for 2021. The last project was a copy of a Maxfield Parrish landscape. Two of my more experienced students completed it in oil paint. We focused on blending techniques, color mixing and color matching, and refining our understanding of value. What a great and entertaining bunch of kids. I consider myself lucky to have them as my students!

So proud of my art students! October was the first time we tried oils and we ambitiously chose to copy a portion of the Mona Lisa. It’s safe to say it was a GREAT opportunity for them to learn what oils are all about and see the difference from other mediums.

Albrecht Durer copies for the win! Check out these renditions of “Young Hare” done originally in 1502. Albrecht understood how crucial emulating nature is to artistic creation. Our young artists did a great job studying his study, don’t you think?!
