Meet Annabelle Copeland!

When Annabelle first visited Christchurch on the final day of classes, one thing immediately stood out: everyone was genuinely sad to leave for the summer. Seeing how much our students loved being here told her everything she needed to know about the Christchurch community.

Originally from Hershey, Pennsylvania, Annabelle attended Lancaster Country Day School, where she was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year, captained the varsity basketball and field hockey teams, and scored more than 1,000 career points on the basketball court. She went on to Haverford College, earning a degree in English with a minor in History while competing in women’s basketball and club soccer.

Annabelle brings experience as a college essay tutor, classroom teaching assistant, middle school soccer coach, varsity basketball coach, and most recently, a residential assistant with the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.

Outside of school, she loves reading, writing, cooking, running, basketball, and music. She’ll also be joined on campus by her cat, appropriately named LeBronette.

We’re excited to welcome Annabelle to Christchurch!

Before the school year gets underway, our faculty and staff spent the day getting out, exploring, and connecting with the place we call home here at Christchurch.

From the river to the surrounding community, today’s excursions were a chance to learn a little more about this special place and each other as we get ready to welcome our students back to campus.

Welcome Back, Rebecca!

Christchurch School is excited to welcome Rebecca Schomburg back to campus in her new role as Associate Dean of Residential Life and Student Engagement!

Rebecca has spent much of her career working with young people and understands the important role Residential Life and student engagement play in the Christchurch experience. She is looking forward to a year filled with fun weekends, meaningful connections, and opportunities to help develop the next generation of student leaders.

When she’s not at school, Rebecca enjoys spending time on the river with her family. She is also a proud dog mom to Jake, Presley, and Tucker! 🐾

We’re thrilled to have Rebecca back at Christchurch and can’t wait to see all she will bring to our community this year!

Not much longer until we go from quiet halls, empty classrooms, and open spaces to a campus full of students again.

We’re kicking off our New Faculty & Staff series with someone who is not new to Christchurch, but is stepping into an important new role!

After serving as Math Department Chair last year, Patricia Jessee has been named Interim Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Patricia brings extensive experience as a teacher, math specialist, assistant principal, and interim principal. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and holds graduate degrees in education and educational leadership from the University of Richmond.

Patricia believes education should be empowering, active, and relevant, and she brings a high-energy, positive approach to everything she does. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, boating, historical fiction, painting, and spending time with her husband, Cameron, their sons, Braxton and Henry, and their two dogs, Murphy and Wally.

Please join us in congratulating Patricia as she begins this new chapter at Christchurch!

One of the things that sets Christchurch apart is that you're known here.

Whether it's a teacher, coach, advisor, or staff member, students build genuine relationships with the people they see every day. Our faculty and staff take the time to understand each student as an individual, celebrate their strengths, and support them through challenges.

Those connections create a community where students feel supported, encouraged, and challenged to grow, both in and beyond the classroom.
