LLC is accepting applications for a Substitute Paraprofessional Position with the potential of full-time. This position is working with Children who are birth to 5 who have developmental delays and/or disabilities. You will be helping implement written individual habilitation plans under the instruction of a certified teacher. This is an hourly paid position. Interested people may pick up an application at the LLC office located at 3707 Highway 95 East Choctaw between the hours of 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.

In memory and appreciation of Kennith “Woody” Lemings.

Woody faithfully served the Van Buren County Special School/ Lakeside Learning Center as a board member for four consecutive five-year terms. His dedication, leadership, and unwavering support of our schools and community were greatly appreciated.

On a personal note, I always enjoyed stopping by Woody’s Bait & Tackle Shop during the many years it was in business. Woody sold the best tube jigs anywhere, and visiting his shop was always a pleasure.

Thank you, Woody, for your service, friendship, and contributions to our community.

Godspeed, Woody. You will be greatly missed.

Employee Spotlight: Marcus Hutto

Marcus Hutto has been part of the Lakeside Learning Center team for 20 years.

As an Occupational Therapist, he works with children on skills many people take for granted, such as feeding, getting dressed, tying shoes, and developing the fine motor skills they need for everyday life.

What Marcus enjoys most is getting to watch the people he serves grow over time.

Because he also works in the school system, he often has the opportunity to see children continue their journey long after they leave Lakeside. In some cases, the adults he works with today first came to Lakeside as young children.

"I've known a lot of them since they were babies," Marcus said. "Some of the adults here today started out as kids here with me 20 years ago. That's been kind of the fun part of my career here, just being here as they age and seeing them throughout their lives."

Thank you, Marcus, for 20 years of dedication and for the lasting impact you've made on the individuals and families we serve.

Lakeside Learning Center is seeking 2 applicants to drive van routes in the Center Ridge & Scotland area. Must have clean driving record. Also, you must pass adult and child maltreatment checks and criminal checks. Pre employment drug screen required. Prospective employees must receive 6 hours of paid online transportation training with Arkansas Transit Association.
