Good evening, CMS families—this is Principal Lauren Johnson with your first weekly update of the 2026–2027 school year!

We are so excited to welcome our students back on Monday! We are looking forward to a great year of learning, leadership, and growth together.

On Monday (8/24), it’s the first day of school! Student arrival is from 7:25–7:45 a.m. Please allow a little extra time as everyone settles into new routines. Our PTO Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser also begins Monday, and we appreciate your support of CMS.

On Tuesday (8/25), students will participate in Code of Conduct assemblies during their elective periods. Please ask your scholar about the assembly and remind them to respect our rules and expectations at CMS. The rest of the week will focus on establishing routines, building relationships, and getting our school year off to a strong start.

A few reminders as we begin the year: please make sure your scholar arrives on time each day, follows CMS dress code expectations, and comes ready to learn. Families, we appreciate your patience with arrival, dismissal, and transportation during these first few days as everyone gets accustomed to new routines.

This week in sports:

Monday & Tuesday: Football Tryouts — 3:00–5:00 p.m.

Tuesday & Wednesday: Volleyball Tryouts — 3:00–5:00 p.m.

Wednesday & Thursday: Cross Country Tryouts — 3:00–5:00 p.m.

Please remember that students must have a current physical on file to participate in athletic tryouts.

There will be a mandatory CMS Athletics meeting for all Parents and Student Athletes on 09/01/26 in the CMS GYM @ 6 PM
This is for ALL SPORTS
🏈🏐🏀🥎⚾⚽📣🎽
This meeting will go over the Student Athletes handbook, policy & procedures, concussions, etc.
This way our athletes can focus on competing and the parents can focus on cheering on those Indians!

Open House is tonight! We can’t wait to see all of our scholars!
5th Grade families please meet in the gym at 5:30 for orientation.
6th-8th Grade families meet your teachers from 6:00-7:30 (floating).

Please enter the front door of CMS for Open House. Additional parking is available in the grass lot beside CMS, behind CMS, and along Walhurst Ave.

Football practice for tomorrow is cancelled due to potential bad weather and open house. We will resume practice next week Monday through Thursday!
