Senior Spotlight Molly West
As our current Math Club President and a dedicated member for the past three years, this senior has made a lasting impact through leadership, positivity, and involvement. We are excited to celebrate all she has accomplished during her time in Math Club and throughout high school. This fall, she will be attending UNC Chapel Hill to study Biology, taking the next step toward an exciting future.
One of her favorite Math Club memories includes joking around with fellow officers during meetings and singing karaoke at the Rock-a-thon—moments filled with laughter, friendship, and unforgettable fun.
When asked for advice to underclassmen, she shared:
“Join anything and everything you might be interested in. It's better to explore now than regret it later, and it is so worth it. I've made so many great memories through all the clubs and activities I've joined throughout the years!”
Her enthusiasm and willingness to get involved have truly made a difference in the school community. We can’t wait to see all they accomplish next.

Senior Spotlight Jadyn Schafer
As our current Math Club Vice President, this senior has played an important role in helping the club grow through leadership, teamwork, and school involvement. Her positive attitude and commitment have made a lasting impact on Math Club and the students around them. She will be attending UNC - Charlotte in the fall to study business where she will continue to use the skills she has practiced here at SHS.
One of her favorite memories from Math Club has been participating in fundraisers alongside other club members. Working together to support the club created fun experiences and strengthened friendships throughout the years.
Through three years of dedication and leadership, they have helped make Math Club a welcoming and active organization. We are proud of all they have accomplished and are excited to see what the future holds for them at UNC Charlotte and beyond.

Senior Spotlight Kaleb Wallace
As a dedicated Math Club member for the past three years and our current Coordinator Officer, this senior is the 2026 Math Club Scholarship recipient. This fall, he will be attending UNC-Greensboro to pursue a degree in Computer Science, setting the stage for a future in a fast-growing and innovative field.
One of his favorite memories from Math Club is attending the Rock-o-thon—a standout experience that left a lasting impression, even if the following years didn’t quite go as planned due to being sick or out of town. Still, that first experience clearly made it memorable!
His perseverance, sense of humor, and commitment to his goals makes him someone to watch in the future. We’re proud of all he’s accomplished and can’t wait to see what he achieves next.

Senior Spotlight Devon Davis
Although this was his first and only year as a Math Club member, this senior quickly became a valued part of the group through their positivity and willingness to get involved. We are excited to celebrate their accomplishments and bright future ahead. He will be attending North Carolina Wesleyan to study Psychology with the goal of becoming a psychiatrist.
His favorite memory from Math Club this year was caroling and taking ornaments to Ridgewood Manor.
His advice to underclassmen is, “Keep your head up and keep going one step at a time. One step a day is seven in a week, and eventually you’ll take more and more every day, and before you know it, you’ll have walked a mile.”
His determination and encouraging outlook have made a positive impact during their time in Math Club. We are proud of all he has accomplished and can’t wait to see all he achieves in the future.

Students represented Southside today at ECU Regional Mathematics Competition. The had fun and got a tour of campus by 2 of Southside's 2025 graduates and previous math club members that are currently attending ECU and in the honors college... Rachel Fox and Megan Grimsley.

Another BCS Math Competition has concluded. Congratulations to Southside students on their outstanding performance. Math3: John Davis secured 3rd place, Riley Daugherty achieved 5th place, and Paul Moore secured 7th place. The team earned a 2nd Place award. Comprehensive: Molly West secured 8th place and Trevor Alligood achieved 3rd place, with the team earning a 3rd Place award. The next competition will be the ECU regional math competition.
