A BIG BACS thank you to Meredith Village Savings Bank! 🎉

We are incredibly grateful to MVSB - Meredith Village Savings Bank for becoming one of our Founding Community Partners and supporting BACS as we continue building something special from the ground up!

Their support is helping us bring our first initiatives to life and create meaningful opportunities for our students. Having local businesses and organizations invest in our school means so much as we work to build a community where students feel connected, supported, and proud to be part of something bigger.

We are especially thankful to Meredith Village Savings Bank for investing in our students, our school, and the community we are building together.

Thank you for believing in BACS and for helping us continue to grow and build something extraordinary! đź’›

Over the past two weeks, we’ve introduced you to the incredible educators who make up our BACS founding staff. But there are two people who have been dreaming, planning, building, problem-solving, and pouring their hearts into making Breakthrough Academy a reality from the very beginning.

Today, we’d love to introduce you to one of those amazing people, Kimberly Morton, Co-Founder & Director of BACS:

Meet Kimberly Morton, Co-Founder & Director đź’›

Mrs. Morton brings a lifelong commitment to education, a deep understanding of curriculum and school leadership, and a belief that students are capable of far more when they are given ownership of their education.

Her work with children began at just 15 years old at a Montessori school, where she first discovered her passion for education. Since then, her career has taken her through a wide range of educational settings and roles, including working with students with significant physical and developmental needs, serving as a nanny, completing Montessori training, directing a Montessori school, teaching in private and charter schools, and co-running a homeschool cooperative serving students from kindergarten through 9th grade.

After moving from California to Maine with her family, Mrs. Morton spent four years at a charter school, beginning with students in grades 1–3 before eventually teaching grades 5–8. She later spent four years co-running a homeschool cooperative, continuing to develop her passion for individualized, student-centered education.

Her educational background reflects that same commitment to thoughtful and purposeful learning. Mrs. Morton holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master’s degree in Curriculum Development and Implementation. She is currently completing her PhD, with her dissertation focused specifically on competency-based education in New Hampshire.

That experience has shaped the philosophy behind BACS. Mrs. Morton believes that education should be something students actively own. She wants students to understand that what they get from their education is closely connected to the effort, curiosity, perseverance, and ownership they bring to it. At the heart of her approach is the belief that every day is an opportunity to learn something new.

But BACS was never the vision of one person alone. From the very beginning, Mrs. Morton has been building this alongside her teaching and founding partner Kimberlee Randall, the person who helps take all of the ideas, possibilities, and big-picture thinking and turn them into something tangible. Together, they have spent countless hours dreaming, planning, problem-solving, and bringing the pieces together to create a school that reflects what they believe students deserve. Mrs. Morton often describes her founding partner as “the glue that helps bind all my thoughts into a comprehensive space to make things come to life.” It is that shared vision, combined with the unique strengths each brings to the table, that has helped turn the idea of BACS into the school our community is now experiencing.

As Co-Founder and Director of BACS, Mrs. Morton is especially excited to build a school where decisions are made with students at the center. She envisions an engaging, positive environment that encourages lifelong learning while giving students meaningful opportunities to discover their strengths, develop confidence, and take ownership of their education.

Outside of school, Mrs. Morton loves reading, gardening, and spending time with her chickens. Her idea of a perfect day would be curled up in a comfortable chair in the middle of a garden, surrounded by chickens; a pretty fitting reflection of the hands-on, agricultural spirit she hopes to bring to BACS.

With decades of experience across Montessori, private, charter, homeschool, and leadership settings, combined with advanced study in curriculum and competency-based education, Kimberly Morton brings both experience and vision to BACS. She is helping build not simply a school, but an educational model centered on what is truly in the best interest of students. We are so lucky to have her and Kimberlee Randall leading this journey

A huge thank you to all of the families who came out to visit Breakthrough Academy with their students. We loved getting to meet you, show you around, introduce you to our founding staff, and share a little bit of what we’ve been working so hard to build.

We hope you left feeling as excited about BACS as we are; and that you could feel just how special this community is going to be. There is something incredibly exciting about seeing the classrooms filled, meeting the families who will become part of our community, and realizing that after so much planning and dreaming, this is really happening!

Now there’s only one thing left to say…

We can’t wait to see everyone on the first day of school! Here’s to the beginning of something very special. Welcome to BACS! 💛🌱✨

Just a heads up! They are still actively paving. Please be advised that there is a lot of activity happening in what will be our parking lot.
We look forward to welcoming families; we will be here from 1 pm to 5 pm today. We completely understand if you wish to visit tomorrow between 10 am and 5 pm instead, due to the parking lot work.

And just like that, our Staff Spotlight series has come to an end! đź’›

Over the past week, we’ve loved introducing you to the incredible people who will make up the BACS Founding Staff. Each person brings their own experiences, passions, strengths, and ideas, but most importantly, a genuine love for students and a belief in what we’re building together! We are so proud of the team we’ve brought together and cannot wait for our students and families to experience the care, creativity, curiosity, and excitement they bring to BACS.

But enough introductions from behind a screen… now it’s time to meet them in person!

Today is the start of our Open House, and we cannot wait to finally welcome our students and families into BACS! Come see the spaces coming together, meet our founding staff, ask questions, explore the school, and get a glimpse of what our very first year will look like.

The people are here. The school has come together. And now, it’s almost time to open the doors.

We’ll see you at Open House! 🎉

Meet Shae Aiguier ✨

Ms. Aiguier believes that some of the most meaningful moments in education happen when a student finally has that “aha!” moment, when something that once felt challenging suddenly begins to make sense. She loves finding different ways to help students learn and believes that every student learns differently. Sometimes it takes a few approaches, a little patience, and some creativity, but she believes that every student can find a way forward.

Ms. Aiguier has worked with children and students from preschool through high school in a variety of settings, including special education, summer camp, and athletics. These experiences have helped her develop a patient, flexible approach to working with students and a genuine appreciation for the many different backgrounds and experiences they bring with them.

As BACS’s ELA teacher, Ms. Aiguier is especially excited to share her love of reading with students. She has always loved books and looks forward to exploring both classic literature and new stories with her students. She hopes to help students discover books that capture their attention, spark their curiosity, and perhaps even develop a love of reading of their own.

At BACS, Ms. Aiguier is excited to be part of building a new community from the ground up. Having attended an agricultural high school herself, she is especially excited to return to an agricultural school, this time as an educator. She looks forward to being part of a school where learning can extend beyond the traditional classroom and into hands-on experiences, the outdoors, agriculture, and the wider community.

Ms. Aiguier also has a lifelong love of swimming. She was a competitive swimmer for 17 years and has spent many years teaching and coaching swimming. Outside of school, she recently moved to the area with her two-year-old daughter, and is looking forward to exploring Tamworth and the surrounding communities together.

Ms. Aiguier brings patience, enthusiasm, humor, and a genuine belief in her students to BACS. She is excited to create a classroom where students feel comfortable being themselves, trying new things, making mistakes, and finding their own path to that “aha!” moment. We are so excited to have Shae Aiguier as part of our BACS Founding Staff!

Meet Adriana House đź’›

Mrs. House believes that some of the most meaningful moments in education happen when students feel truly seen, known, and valued for who they are. She loves building individual relationships with her students and taking the time to understand what makes each of them unique. Her goal is to create a classroom that feels like a safe space; a place where students can be themselves, take risks, ask questions, make mistakes, and discover who they are as learners and as people.

With a background in education and experience working with students across multiple age groups, Mrs. House is passionate about hands-on learning and creating experiences that help students connect what they learn in the classroom to the world around them. She loves finding ways to make science engaging, approachable, and meaningful, while encouraging students to be curious and think for themselves.

Being mother of two, Mrs. House understands the importance of creating a school community where children feel supported not only academically, but personally. She believes that strong relationships between students, teachers, families, and the broader community are an important part of helping children thrive.

At BACS, Mrs. House is excited to be part of building something from the ground up. She loves creating opportunities to take learning beyond the traditional classroom and into agriculture, the outdoors, the community, and real-world experiences. She is especially excited to help students discover that learning is happening all around them and that their own questions and ideas can lead to meaningful growth.

Beyond her classroom, Mrs. House loves bringing people together. For her, building a strong community is just as important as building a strong classroom.

Mrs. House brings curiosity, creativity, compassion, and a genuine love of people to BACS. She is excited to help create a school where students feel like they belong, where their individual strengths are celebrated, and where they have the freedom to discover who they can become. We are so excited to have Adriana House apart of our BACS Founding Staff!
