It's our first day back and we wanted to share our theme songs for the year. The first is “There Is Time” by Anna Vaus.

We chose this song because it really fits what we want for our preschoolers. There is so much pressure on kids to hurry up and be ready for the next thing, and we really believe there is time to play, explore, learn, make mistakes, and just be kids.

So this song will be coming along with us throughout the year.

Fall is fast approaching, and we’re getting ready to kick off a new year!

We’re starting things off with a Party in the Park for new and returning families. Then, throughout September, we’ll be settling into Wildflowers and building the skills that help children feel confident, capable, and comfortable in our classroom.

Our first month will focus on four big ideas:

Week 1: Caring for Ourselves
Building independence around meals, toileting, hygiene, and taking care of our own needs.

Week 2: Caring for Our Belongings
Practicing how to use, organize, and take care of the toys, books, art materials, and other things we use every day.

Week 3: Caring for Our Classroom
Learning that our classroom is a shared space and that everyone plays a part in taking care of it.

Week 4: Respecting Our Community
Learning how to communicate our needs and opinions, listen to others, work through disagreements, and be part of a community where everyone gets a say.

Summer is drawing to a close, which means we are nearing the start of the Wildflowers school year! Our first day of preschool is August 24th, and Get Kids Ready begins on August 25th.

Looking for a full-day preschool program that helps children navigate new situations, build relationships, solve problems, and become confident members of their classroom community?

Want those things, but a full-day program isn't what you're looking for? 4-year-olds can join us in the mornings for Get Kids Ready, our FREE state-funded portion of the program!

Room Highlight: Our Gallery Walls

Scattered throughout the classroom, you'll find our gallery walls.

Each child has their own frame, complete with a brass nameplate, where they can display artwork that's important to them. The frames open from the front, allowing children to change the piece on display whenever they choose.

The galleries quickly become as unique as the children themselves. Some children swap their artwork every week, excited to showcase their newest creation. Others put a favorite piece in when the frames first went up and haven't thought about changing it since. Some displays feature detailed works covered in stickers and color, while others proudly showcase a single line drawn across a page.

There are no requirements for what belongs in a gallery frame. The goal isn't to display the "best" artwork. Instead, it's to give children a place in the classroom that reflects them.
