Reminder,

Pre-Camp begins tomorrow (Tues-Thurs), 7am, full ACUs with pistol belt and full canteens, and proper grooming at the CHS JROTC room, “rain or shine”. We’ll move indoors for severe weather.

COVID protocols remain in effect.

Tuesday: knots, Swiss seats, mock rappelling.
Wed: 1-rope bridge, ski races, spider web maze.
Thurs: fitness, drown-proofing, free swim.

Breakfast and lunch provided at no cost (to cadets) daily.

We plan to release cadets at 1pm daily.



Summer Camp (JCLC) occurs this coming Sunday thru Friday (17-22 July). Meals (really good meals!) provided at no cost (to cadets) daily.

VIP Day is scheduled for WEDNESDAY (8-4pm). Family and friends are welcome to visit Camp Rudder to watch and participate with cadets in action. Sign-in at the classroom (side door) nearest the flagpole.

Sunday: in-processing, medical screening, assign cadets to platoons.

Mon-Tues: rappelling (Duke Field tower), aquatics, team building challenges, plus one other TBD (possibly first aid or aircraft familization).

Wed-Thur: Land Nav, rope bridges, leadership reactionary courses, wilderness survival.

Friday: platoon round robin championship finals, return to CHS early afternoon.

A Proclamation on Remembering the 1,000,000 Americans Lost to COVID-⁠19

MAY 12, 2022 • PRESIDENTIAL ACTIONS

Today, we mark a tragic milestone: one million American lives lost to COVID-19. One million empty chairs around the dinner table. Each an irreplaceable loss. Each leaving behind a family, a community, and a Nation forever changed because of this pandemic. Jill and I pray for each of them.

As a Nation, we must not grow numb to such sorrow. To heal, we must remember. We must remain vigilant against this pandemic and do everything we can to save as many lives as possible. In remembrance, let us draw strength from each other as fellow Americans. For while we have been humbled, we never give up. We can and will do this together as the United States of America.

In memory of the one million American lives lost to COVID-19 and their loved ones left behind, I hereby order, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and on all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset May 16, 2022. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same period at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twelfth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-two, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-sixth.

“Family of 7 loses home to fire”

At 4:35pm on Tuesday, April 12th, Chipley Fire Department responded to a fully involved mobile home fire. Everything inside the home was destroyed and/or rendered unusable. That mobile home was occupied by one of our own cadets, one of our own “family members”, Cadet Raina Bratcher.

The Red Cross and their extended family are helping. But the Bratchers still have unmet needs. So we, the CHS JROTC Program, decided to do something about it. We decided to get involved. We decided to lend a hand. We DECIDED….….rather we CHOSE to be better citizens (ie the mission of JROTC).

JROTC is now hosting a “Bratcher Family Charity Drive” with the goal of helping the Bratcher family. The donations are coming in; and the donations are already getting handed over to the Bratchers.

Here’s their list of needs. Deliver items to the JROTC classroom.

- non-perishable food
- diapers (size-6) for female toddler
- diapers (size-7) for male toddler
- linen (bedsets) for full-sized bed
- linen (bedsets) for TWO queen-sized beds
- linen (bedsets) for TWO crib-sized beds

They’re telling us that they do not need clothing.

JROTC’s Mission is to motivate young people to be better citizens. Lending a hand to others is good citizenship.

A little over a week ago, a friend of mine was reported as “missing, endangered.” I joined a volunteer effort organized by family and friends of the victim to help search for her. She was 37 years old. She was a single mom. She was loved. She was found a few days ago. It was not the type of ending that we had hoped for.

Moments ago, my partner and I launched a new foundation aimed at helping victims of domestic violence (DV) through a nationwide network of volunteers.

Recruiters from Florida’s Department of Corrections visited JROTC today. FDOC offers great pay and benefits along with tremendous opportunities for promotion and advancement within their many programs.
