Welcome, parents and students.

Meet Your Instructor:
Sensei Anna is a Third Degree Black Belt in Wado Karate. She takes karate very seriously and has dedicated many years to training for competition. Anna has taken first place in two world championships, competing in both kata (form) and kumite (sparring). She has competed locally, nationally and internationally, with numerous first place titles. Anna loves watching her student

s become equally passionate about karate and hopes their training becomes a lifestyle and not just a class. I am so excited to have the opportunity to share my passion with you. My goal is that your karate training will become a lifestyle and not just another class that you attend. Karate is much more than just physical training. You will find that karate is equally, if not more, mentally challenging. The skills you gain here will benefit you tremendously in every day life, whether it be public speaking, overall confidence, physical health and much more. Each class will consist in the basic training of kicking, punching, blocking, stances, along with Japanese etiquette and terminology. The techniques will become more advanced as the student advances, incorporating different combinations of the basics. Students will learn katas (choreographed techniques or form) designed specifically for each belt level. Age and rank appropriate sparring (fighting) will be taught, with proper equipment use, technique and rules.

Sen Sen no Sen- pronounced (sehn sehn no sehn) - 先々の先

In karate, Sen Sen no Sen is the highest level of initiative. It means recognizing your opponent’s intention before their attack has fully begun and taking action first.

This principle extends far beyond the dojo.

Life will always present obstacles. Challenges aren’t interruptions to the journey—they’re part of it. When we expect resistance instead of being surprised by it, we stop spending energy reacting to every setback.

Like Sen Sen no Sen, we can anticipate challenges, prepare our mindset, and choose intentional action over emotional reaction. By taking initiative before circumstances force us to respond, we maintain momentum and adapt with purpose.

Every season of life offers an opportunity to grow. The more proactive we become, the less resistance controls us, allowing us to make the most of each season rather than simply endure it.

Don’t wait for life to happen to you. Meet it with intention before it demands a reaction.

See you in class!

Coach Shea in action for ‘Mental Mondays’ with the comp team. This group is outstanding, but training the mind is just as important as training the body. Taking training to a whole new level!
