Boys Republic

Boys Republic is a private, non-profit, non-sectarian school and residential treatment community for troubled youth located in Chino Hills, California.

It has been in operation since 1907.

The culinary class has been operating successfully for almost two decades, impacting the lives of countless students.

The Culinary Arts Classroom includes a fully functioning bistro where students gain practical experience in food prep and plating. Students also learn catering skills for events and meetings.

The class is a part of our vocational training programs. Students learn valuable skills that help them enter the workforce.

Daniel is now a college graduate and working towards becoming a lawyer.

The Plymouth Scamp was previously owned by a friend of Metal Shop instructor Mr. Crowell and has spent much of its life on the East Coast. While the vehicle is not currently running, it retains all its major components. It presents an ideal opportunity for students to develop practical skills in restoration, welding, fabrication, and automotive repair.

Years of exposure to harsh weather conditions have left the vehicle with significant metalwork needs, creating a real-world learning experience for students in the Metal Shop. At the same time, students in the Auto Shop will have the opportunity to diagnose, repair, and eventually help return the vehicle to operating condition.

In the Agricultural Program, students learn the fundamentals of land management while helping care for farm animals, maintain stables, and support daily operations. They gain hands-on experience in agriculture, landscaping, fruit tree cultivation, and the upkeep of Boys Republic’s 200-acre campus. The program fosters responsibility, work ethic, and a deep understanding of natural systems.

Boys Republic Metal Shop/Welding program equips students with valuable hands-on training in metalworking and fabrication. It provides technical skills and fosters creativity, pride, and purpose, helping students realize their potential in skilled trades and beyond.

Boys Republic is a private, nonprofit, nonsectarian school and treatment community for troubled youngsters. Since its founding in 1907, it has guided more than 33,000 at-risk teenage boys and girls toward productive, fulfilling lives.

On its central school and farm in Chino Hills, California, and in residential and day treatment centers in other communities, Boys Republic and its companion program, Girls Republic, help children in desperate need find within themselves the resources and skills to begin meaningful lives on their own.

🌱 Growing Community, Growing Opportunity

We’re proud to see Boys Republic graduates making a lasting impact in their communities.

A recent Champion Newspapers article highlights the revitalization of the neighborhood demonstration garden in Chino Hills, led in part by Mike Jones, who is a member of the Boys Republic Advisory Board and a former Boys Republic student.

We’re especially proud that another Boys Republic graduate, Jerson, now works alongside Mike at Landscape Pro Services.

Through hands-on vocational programs, Boys Republic students build practical skills, confidence, teamwork, and a strong work ethic—while learning to take initiative and create opportunities for their future.

Jerson’s journey is a wonderful example of those lessons continuing to grow long after graduation.

Girls Republic Self-Esteem Summit 2026:

We hosted the event on the Boys Republic campus in Chino Hills. The Summit if for our Girls Republic students. We host guest speakers and set up workshops that help the girls dig deeper into their aspirations.

This event would not be possible without Mary Kay Hardwick, Diana Sanchez and our wonderful Girls Republic staff.

Thank you California Alliance and Jason Gonsalves for arranging meetings with Richard Figueroa in Governor Newsom's office, Spencer Winkle and Megan De Sousa with the Republic Caucus and Kelsy Castillo with the Assembly Speaker's office.
The alumni took each opportunity to describe the incredible life changes that occurred for them at Boys and Girls Republic and why it is critically important to provide such opportunities for at-risk youth when remaining in toxic home environments can often be life threatening.
