🎶 just want to document that one week in March we didn’t have lessons, teacher was at the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) 2026 Convention in 📍 chicago, illinois!

met alot of famous people (in the piano teaching world 😆), learned alot during pedagogy Saturday, bought music games and resources, reunited with friends, and made new connections!

just as students need to grow, teachers need to get better too!

🥳 Yay today we just finished our second ever SCALE COMPETITION!! These students had to learn EVERY SINGLE Major AND minor scales plus the arpeggios‼️ I’m a proud teacher!! 🎹 🏆

🧑‍🏫 I’m inspired by my college professor who held a scales competition for all her students (me included) back in the day, and I’m so grateful for that push and friendly competition to make me really get good at my foundational technique like scales/arpeggios. My hope is to pass this tradition on with my students in hopes that they would retain these foundation throughout their lives! Scales are boring but hopefully putting it in a competition form was FUN! ✨

🎁 Prizes were good this year!
$50 target gift card, $25 chickfila, and $10 Roblox (some kids requested 🤔) + a lot of fun prizes I picked out just for them!
Whew, these kids are DONE with them! Until tests….🫢

Congratulations to everyone that competed at the 20th/21st century festival back in November! Preparing and playing for a live competition is not easy, and I am so proud of everyone that said “yes” to the challenge! 👏🏻👏🏻🎹🎹🏆🏆
