Dear Superintendent and members of the Accomack County School Board,
I hope this message finds you well. We are reaching out not only as the Executive Board of the Chincoteague Combined School’s PTSA but also as passionate student parents expressing our deep concern regarding the impending departure of our acting principal, Mr. David Sabatino, at the conclusion of this school year. As advocates for the students, teachers, and parents of our school community, we feel it is crucial to share our thoughts on this matter.
Over the past few months, we have had the pleasure of collaborating with Mr. Sabatino at key events including Teacher Appreciation Week, the Senior Awards Ceremony, numerous PTSA meetings, and various sporting events. His energy is consistently positive, and it is evident that he has made a significant impact on both students and staff in our school.
Mr. Sabatino's unwavering support exemplifies thoughtfulness, kindness, compassion, and enthusiasm for education. His involvement in our PTSA meetings has been invaluable; he has provided strong leadership, insightful contributions, and genuine appreciation for our collective efforts to enhance our school community.
The positive relationships Mr. Sabatino has cultivated with staff, students, and parents are a true reflection of his character and professionalism. His profound impact on our school community has inspired us, and we strongly encourage you to consider continuing our partnership with him to foster a thriving educational environment for both students and staff alike.
Furthermore, we think it is essential to highlight the critical importance of stability and continuity in school leadership. Frequent changes in administration can be disruptive, leading to uncertainty among students, staff, and families. Strong, successful schools are built on trust, consistency, and meaningful relationships—qualities that take time to develop. The absence of stable leadership can hinder long-term planning and undermine the continuity of essential programs that support student success. A robust administrative presence nurtures staff confidence, reassures parents, and fosters a more productive learning environment for our students.
With the utmost respect for your responsibilities, we strongly urge you to consider retaining Mr. Sabatino at Chincoteague Combined Schools. His leadership and dedication to our community have been invaluable, and we believe his continued presence is crucial to our school’s success and well-being.
Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration.
Sincerely,
Chincoteague Combined School PTSA Executive Board
