Update on what's growing and the birdhouses!

The lack of rain and rabbit pressure has done a number on many plants that have grown. The onions, garlic, gladiolus, pansies, and most of the decorative squash are doing well. The peas are struggling quite a bit because of rabbits and the tomatoes have died. I will be working on planting some different plants this summer. The Swiss chard and some of the onions are able to be harvested now.

The Bluebird style nestbox that had Carolina wren eggs last time is now empty of eggs and babies. Still no tenants in the Wren box.

I peeked in on the Bluebird nest box near the playground and some Carolina Wrens have taken it over! Sorry for the poor ...

It's been awhile since the last update!

Life kinda got in the way. The freak 18 degree frost last month killed all the carrots, radishes, cabbages, and most of the Swiss chard I had planted. I did plant some purchased marigolds. I transplanted a couple tomato seedlings and decorative squash plants as well. I need a chance to really w**d out these beds and I'm hoping that will happen this coming week.

Birdhouses are up!

Garden update from this past week! 2 beds have had daffodils and other bulbs sporadically pop up (previously planted). One bed is planted with garlic and sweet potatoes. Another is full of onions, radishes, carrots, and Swiss chard. Yet another bed was filled with strawberries.

More flowers are coming up as well! They are from a previous planting and I'm not sure what type of flowers they are. A few have already made buds and will likely be blooming in the next few days.

Radishes have started to appear!

Soon they will make their way into the school garden beds. For now, they are enjoying some sunshine and milder weather. I plan on getting all sprouts through at least their first 1-2 weeks before transplanting. Time frame will depend on plant variety and weather.
