On May 16, 4 of our Chilton High School musical students from our production of “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” attended the 2026 Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program Showcase.

The Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program is an education initiative that celebrates and supports the achievements of high school theater students both on and off the stage. Throughout the school year, students in Northeast Wisconsin develop confidence, creativity, collaboration and camaraderie as they celebrate their peers and school communities.

Through the Center Stage Program, local students engage in various learning opportunities including performing and attending performances, receiving educational feedback on their school’s musical productions, participating in interactive workshops with local and touring arts professionals, and celebrating each other’s accomplishments at the year-end Showcase.

The Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program is an education initiative that celebrates and supports the achievement of high school theater while developing confidence, creativity and collaboration among high school students in Northeast Wisconsin. The Showcase features a Tony Awards® style red carpet experience, live performances, recognition of outstanding achievement and a celebration of community formed throughout the year. This performance shines a spotlight on the future Broadway stars from our own backyards.

Our students were recognized in the following:

Megan Braun: Outstanding Performance in a Lead Role as “Ursula”
Peyton Campsall: Outstanding Performance in a Supporting Role as “Chef Louis”
Evelyn Ortlieb: Honorable Mention in a Lead Role as “Ariel”
Gabe Shaver: Outstanding Performance in a Lead Role as “Sebastian”

Director, Charlotte Deehr, was also recognized as “Influencer Theater Educator” among other colleagues.

Thank you Fox Cities Performing Arts Center by providing this amazing opportunity for our students and giving them unforgettable memories!

Donate to Help High School Musicians Shine, organized by Aaron Juhl 05/01/2026

Mr. Juhl has been volunteering to help Chilton High School students form their own pop and rock bands. This initiative has been incredibly rewarding, as the students are motivated and excited to learn music that resonates with them. To expand this opportunity, he is raising funds to purchase more instruments and sound equipment. This will allow more students to join and perform live, sharing their talents with the community. Your support can make a huge difference in their musical journey. Please like, comment, and share this post to help reach more people and give these young musicians the chance to shine. Thank you for your generosity!

Today we were notified that Chilton was named one of the 2026 Best Communities in Music Education. This marks the 13th consecutive year that Chilton has received this honor.

The award is given to recognize the commitment of community leaders, school administration, teachers, and parents. Nominated communities from across the United States were compared using a variety of factors, including: opportunities to learn music; the presence of highly qualified, certified music teachers; adherence to state and national standards; types of musical experiences offered; opportunities for performance and competition; and budgetary commitment to music. To receive a Best Communities for Music Education designation, a community must demonstrate commitment to providing access and high standards for music education. Congratulations to our community and school district for earning this honor! Through everyone's support, volunteerism, and a commitment to the importance of arts education, all of us (not just music teachers) have played an important role in helping our community achieve and maintain this status!

On Friday, May 8 at 7 PM in the Engler Center, we will be having a concert featuring three Chilton High School rock bands that Mr. Juhl has been coaching/advising.

Last summer, Mr. Juhl attended a conference sponsored by Music Will. Music Will is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping music teachers get students involved in performing and creating contemporary popular styles of music alongside the more traditional school offerings of band, choir, and orchestra. His experiences at the conference inspired him to voluntarily offer several of our high school students the opportunity to form their own bands, help them figure out how to play songs of their own choosing, and guide them through some practice sessions. As an educational experience, the results have been wonderful. The kids are very intrinsically motivated to learn because they have chosen songs that are meaningful to them. In addition to their Engler Center performance, two of the bands have been invited to perform in a concert at St. Norbert College on April 23.
It is exciting that the students will have the opportunity to perform in concert, and Mr. Juhl particularly wants to thank Jenie Farrell and Brian Bartel of the Engler Center for generously helping make this event possible. As all three bands are at different stages in their musical development and experience, it's Mr. Juhl's hope that the audience will appreciate the progress and dedication each individual band has shown and simply enjoy the music, rather than seeing it as some sort of competitive "battle of the bands." He truly wants everyone both on stage and in the audience to simply enjoy themselves. The enjoyment of hearing and performing music is one of the things that makes life worth living!
