Howdy y’all! It’s been awhile! We’ve been staying busy in the lab. We just stopped in to let everyone know that our Smartlab Shop is now open for business.

The majority of what we will be producing in the short term will be custom orders. Most of what we will be able to offer for the foreseeable future will be 3D printing (single color printer for now), and laser engraving.

Below you will see a lot of the work we will be able to produce currently. If you have an idea for something you would like but don’t see it here, just message us here.

Our goal is to raise money to be able to sustain ourselves and upgrade to new machines over time. So, we don’t have actual prices set for our custom work. It all boils down to the amount of resources used, and the amount of run time for the machine being used.

Currently, ordering will be done through messages here or through my teacher email. So, if you have a team you want trophies made for, plaques or awards, or maybe you just want a cool design engraved on your jeans. Dm us and let’s get the ball rolling.

If you want something done using a resource we don’t keep in stock, often I can supply you with links to the resource. And if you can find it cheaper then you’ll save yourself money.

Our price point revolves around cost of materials and cost of machine run time. We are not going to be priced for profit quite yet. Just for maintenance. We will accept donations however, if you feel so moved to help us continue to improve the Smartlab.

Addisyn Keller and Makenzie Taylor were recognized tonight at the Huntington Local School District Board meeting for their initiative and creativity in the work they have done to create a history themed newspaper and podcast!

Their recognition exemplifies the effectiveness of the Smartlab. This all started last year when they were exploring a digital arts application we use in the lab called “Comic Life”. They fell in love with it immediately. They had an idea and they took off with it!

They spent their entire quarter in the lab creating issues of their histor themed newspaper to send out to the staff and students every week of Summer since they wouldn’t have access to Comic Life at home at that time.

Once school resumed in the Fall, as they transitioned from 8th grade to Freshmen, they continued producing issues from the high school Smartlab. But they decided to take it one step further and have since created a podcast with our “Padcaster”, called The History Explorers. Here they take their history themed media to another level!

CJ and Timmie are at it again! They just finished constructing a scaled model of the Eiffel Tower using Engino!

What an awesome experience for our students, getting to meet Buckeye legend, Ted Ginn Jr. Then our student engraving experts got to present Mr. Ginn with a gift from our Smartlab!

Micah dug into our Ukit Explore robotics kits and built himself a rover and then wrote some code to get a feel for how get it moving around. Nice work, my dude!!

Next up he plans to design a replacement part for a broken arm of a drone controller and 3D print it so we can get that controller back to its original state! Can’t wait to see what you come up with, Micah!

CJ and Timmie supercharging the snap circuits to send their flying saucer to the ceiling from the floor. I don’t know if I’ve seen anyone reach the ceiling from the desk before but they were bouncing it off the ceiling from there so we had to move it to the floor go get a good look at just how high they could get it to fly.

Zay doing a project for the Cross Country meet, laser engraving the awards to be given to teams and individuals. He was so excited doing this. I can’t tell you how many times he thanked me for allowing him to do this, and even more excited that he’s the first student to ever use the laser engraver.

That’s what we are doing here, introducing kids to new tech and finding their passions and their strengths!

Happy 4th of July! Just stopped in to post these keychains. I wanted a project to learn the knife tool on the XTOOL M1 Ultra, and so I decided to make some keychains for our coaches. Still have another batch to do, and for that one I’m going to post a video showing the process of going from raw materials to a finished product.

Last year in the lab, the goal was for me to first learn the big manufacturing/fabricator machines. I can’t wait to see what the kids do with them this Fall when they get their turn on them!
