Addisyn Keller and Makenzie Taylor were recognized tonight at the Huntington Local School District Board meeting for their initiative and creativity in the work they have done to create a history themed newspaper and podcast!
Their recognition exemplifies the effectiveness of the Smartlab. This all started last year when they were exploring a digital arts application we use in the lab called “Comic Life”. They fell in love with it immediately. They had an idea and they took off with it!
They spent their entire quarter in the lab creating issues of their histor themed newspaper to send out to the staff and students every week of Summer since they wouldn’t have access to Comic Life at home at that time.
Once school resumed in the Fall, as they transitioned from 8th grade to Freshmen, they continued producing issues from the high school Smartlab. But they decided to take it one step further and have since created a podcast with our “Padcaster”, called The History Explorers. Here they take their history themed media to another level!
