Help us welcome Ally Johnston to the OHIO Chillicothe faculty! As an alumna and dedicated nurse, Ally brings passion and experience to her new role as a clinical instructor for our nursing program. Ally earned her Associate in Applied Science in Nursing at OHIO Chillicothe in 2021 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing the following year. A lifelong learner, Ally is pursuing her family nurse practitioner credential while working as a vascular access nurse at Nationwide Children's Hospital. She also provides nursing education as an adjunct clinical faculty member at OHIO Chillicothe.

"I had such a positive experience at OU and enjoyed my time as a student! I have a passion for teaching and helping others learn and grow in their nursing careers."

Students work through a values clarification activity and look at real career outcome data, moving from a vague sense of what sounds interesting to a concrete list of paths worth exploring. No prior career planning experience needed. If you're undecided, or decided but quietly unsure, this is a good hour to spend.

Ana Frease had never heard her ancestral language spoken by an ancestor, until she sat in an archive at the University of California, Berkeley, and listened to a wax cylinder recording made generations ago.

“It was my first time actually hearing it spoken as it used to be spoken,” said Frease, a junior history major at Ohio University Chillicothe.

Frease, who is Coast Miwok on her father's side, traveled to Berkeley this summer for the Breath of Life Archival Institute for Indigenous California Languages, a program held in partnership with UC Berkeley's linguistics department and the Advocates for Indigenous California Language Survival. The Coast Miwok are Indigenous to southern Sonoma and Marin counties, north of the San Francisco Bay Area.
