Southern Ohio Storytellers Guild Southern Ohio Storytellers Guild was established in 2013 to promote storytelling with young children and networking between storytellers in Southern Ohio.

The Southern Ohio Storytellers Guild was established in the fall of 2013 by Maryjo Flamm-Miller and Penelope LaRock, instructors of an Early Childhood Education storytelling class at Ohio University- Chillicothe to promote storytelling and puppetry with young children and networking between storytellers in Southern Ohio. The Southern Ohio Storytellers Guild's mission is to support oral storytellin

g and puppetry arts for young children. In addition to traditional oral storytelling, the Guild explores the creative use of story props (stuffed animals as story characters, creating story staging, and use of visual and auditory effects). For members in educational settings, the Guild demonstrates stories that incorporate educational content standards (ex. numbers, letter, colors, shapes, etc.) and promotes pro-social skills (ex. turn-taking, sharing, saying "nice" things). The Guild conducts quarterly meetings which feature a storytelling technique and members share storytelling experiences (good and bad!).
