We are proud to share a major milestone for healthcare education in Missouri!

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) and the Department of Social Services (DSS), in partnership with the Missouri Emergency Medical Services Association (MEMSA), have announced a $4.2 million Year 1 investment through the Rural Health Transformation Program to expand training and strengthen our state's rural EMS workforce.

Out of institutions across the entire state, Grand River Technical School is proud to be selected as 1 of only 11 training partners leading this vital initiative!

Here is a look at the impact of this program across Missouri:

$4.2 Million: Initial Year 1 state investment dedicated to growing rural EMS professionals

826 Applications Submitted: Showing immense interest statewide for EMS career pathways

437 Trainees Selected: Individuals starting funded EMT and Paramedic training for the 2026–2027 academic year—marking one of the largest single-year increases in rural EMS training capacity in state history

11 Selected Programs: Partnering across Missouri to train, certify, and retain local emergency clinicians

In rural communities, EMS professionals are often the first and only line of care when a hospital is miles away. Through expanded training capacity and workforce incentives, we are excited to prepare the next generation of EMTs and Paramedics to deliver timely, lifesaving care right here at home.

Thank you to state leadership, MEMSA, and our local partners for investing in healthcare education and the future of rural emergency care.

Today, the Grand River Technical School pauses to honor and remember the lives lost, the heroes who risked everything, and the families forever changed on September 11, 2001.

As a community dedicated to building skills, service, and strong futures, we are deeply inspired by the resilience, unity, and courage shown in the days that followed.

May we always carry forward those values in our classrooms, our trades, and our daily lives.
