The Melitta T. Singer Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year to an outstanding German major or minor. If you will be enrolled in 2026/27, make sure you have declared your German major/minor AND complete the Wildcat Scholarship Application. If you don't do both of these things, your name will not make it into the pool of eligible applicants for this award.
Even if you're not majoring or minoring in German, you should still fill out the scholarship application because you may be eligible for other pools of money.

Not all regions of Germany observe the same public holidays.
In the predominantly Protestant north, Reformation Day (October 31) marks the day that Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the All Saints Church in Wittenberg in 1517 and unwittingly ushered in changes that became known as the Protestant Reformation.
In Catholic regions of the south, All Saints' Day (November 1) honors all Christian saints and is a time for quiet reflection and prayer. Families often visit cemeteries to decorate graves with candles and flowers in remembrance of departed loved ones.
Neither of these holidays is recognized in Hessen and Berlin, where the majority of inhabitants are neither Catholic nor Protestant.
