We asked Wayne a few questions about his CrossFit journey.

“I joined NRCF in November of 2015.
I knew very little about Crossfit, but quickly fell in love with the Crossfit methodology, the community, and embraced the challenge of learning new things. One of the major draws to CrossFit was that the workouts were already written out. All I had to do was show up and the coaches would explain the workout and coach me through it.

As the years went on, I was able to track my progress by participating in the
I did not know it at the time, but I found that looking back at my previous results gave me feedback on my progress.

What motivates me to continue to train? The desire & challenge to keep improving all aspects of my fitness. During my Crossfit Journey, my goal has always been to “just make progress”. Over the past 10 years, I have improved tremendously and I am amazed that I have made it this far.

As far as Semis go, my goal is to enjoy the experience and learn as much as I can from the “fittest in the world”.

My goal from here has not changed. I plan to continue to stay happy and healthy using fitness as a hobby and a challenge. “

Get after it guys. We hope Wayne can inspire you to continue your CrossFit journey!!

Hyrox classes begin this week. Let’s introduce you some experienced Hyrox racers.

🤝Meet Wayne and Jaclyn Rockwell.

A, now, retired couple who love to train together and share their desire to live healthy and strong lives with others. Wayne introduced Jaclyn, a former collegiate athlete, to CrossFit about 4 years ago. He was a decade into his CrossFit journey and loves that they could do it together. Over a couple years, it went from a mere hobby to a major part of their lives. They trained together for different comps and then Jaclyn asked Wayne to “compete in a Hyrox race” with her. He had no idea what that meant, but he was game! 🤷

With 4 Hyrox races under their belts and a 3rd place finish at their most recent Las Vegas race, this power couple is more focused and dialed in than ever as Hyrox has just announced 8 more races on the schedule for this 2026 season.

Their excitement to share everything health and wellness is apparent as you will often see them in between training efforts chatting with folks, sharing tons of tips and tricks. It’s infectious!

We asked them to share a few things they would want people to know right out the gate as they consider Hyrox racing.

Here are 3 important points for you to
know as you get started.

1) Hyrox is an endurance sport. The race consists of 8 1KM runs with 8 stations of work to be completed in between each run.
“We have learned pacing and fueling are essentials to feeling successful in the race.”

2) HYROX does an amazing job of creating an environment with energy that motivates you to do your best. It feels like a giant class workout where athletes are all working at the same time & everyone is working at their capacity.
“It just ignites you to put your best effort in for that race.”

3) HYROX is a sport where you can compete as a solo athlete, on a 2 person team (F/F, M/M, & M/F) or as a 4 person relay team. You can choose whether you want to compete with moderate weight or heavy weight on the movements.
“We have loved competing together & strategizing how to work smarter to move faster through the race. Teamwork does make the dreamwork when you partner up! “🤝

Full send!
Let’s go!

Hyrox is a high energy sport that combines running (1000m intervals) with strength and endurance stations, such as walls balls and farmer’s carry, to create a super fun and challenging test of your ability to sustain effort over a long period.

People are loving the chance to improve their running skills along with strengthening their body so they pull and push a weighted sled during the race. All ages can enjoy individual or team events that ignite one’s motivation to give their all during the event.

Events don’t happen without training and that’s where we begin. We’ll show you the ins and outs of the Hyrox method along with racing strategies and fueling tips.

You’ll never be bored of your workouts and there will always be someone beside you to cheer you on or push you a bit harder.

Come see what the hype is all about. You don’t ever have to sign up for a race. Use the endurance and strength that you gain to live a more active and healthy life. You just might find you like it so much that you just can’t help yourself.

Classes begin 3/17.
Check out our full schedule of classes online.

Stay tuned for more info from our very own Hyrox power couple who have competed in 4 official races and recently took 3rd place in Las Vegas!!!
