***STUDENT PIANO RECITAL TONIGHT!!***

(Thursday, 5/23/24) at the Chico Women's Club.

Early show: 5:00 to 6:00pm
Late show: 6:30 to 7:30pm

The early show is a tribute to Tchaikovsky (and yes, two students will be playing 'Swan Lake' on the piano' ;) ).

31 performers, ages 7 to 16.

Admission is free. Donations will be accepted to help cover the roof replacement :P

Making some last finishing touches to the course outline for my Composition Class. First class is tomorrow at 6:00pm, at The Music Connection, with four brave attendees coming in to try it out :D Reach out if you have questions, or if you want to sign up (which you can do for this semester's class, starting tomorrow, or you can sign up for the fall semester). There's room, so it's still not too late

If you're counting 8th notes as one beat, you're typically playing either 3, 6, or 9 beats per measure. If the tempo is slow enough, you can count two sets of three (or just count in sets of six), or count in sets of two, with each set containing three 8th notes with two of these sets for each measure. Counting in two sets of three 8th notes is usually done when the tempo is 70 beats per minute or faster, with a dotted quarter note being counted as one beat. Not to mention that a quarter note is not a quarter of a measure unless it's in 4/4 time, so in 3/4 or 6/8 time a "quarter note" is actually not one-fourth, even though it's called a "quarter".

Now, try explaining this to a 9-year-old. We have a more challenging job than people think :D

Performing at a house concert this Saturday, at 5:00pm, for a private dinner party. They're luring me in by letting me eat their delicious seafood afterward and gabbing with their guests :P

* Classes are in-person, at The Music Connection (341 West 3rd Street, downtown) in Chico.
* Class meets every Thursday, from 6:00-7:00pm.
* First class will meet on Thursday, January 11th, 2024, at 6:00pm.
* The fee is $250.00 for a 10-week course.
* Anyone 12 or older is eligible to enroll.

Two piano recitals, one giant venue, and just two days to go! Most of the students had their last rehearsal this week (and last week) and are pumped and ready. Got they keys to the building today. First one is at 5:00, second one is at 6:30 (this Thursday, the 7th). Twenty-nine performers, from age 6 through 17. St. John's on Floral, and admission is free :)

We're ready! With 2 DAYS to spare 😃

Come this Friday, November 3rd, and support MONCA's building project (adding an auditorium/stage for future plays, concerts, recitals, exhibitions, and other events).

Proceeds go to the expansion and set-up of the auditorium.

Piano and guitar (and music that you love) ...we may even play one as a duet 😉 Show starts @ 7:00pm, $20.00 at the door.

Live performance on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd, 2023, at MONCA (Museum of Northern California Art) on 900 Esplanade. Original piano compositions, plus acoustic guitar by Chri Wolf. Show starts at 7:00. Ticket sales go to the construction of a new stage.. let's fill the house :D
