Help us congratulate another 2026 Chico State graduate Joey Hutchinson!

Joey Hutchinson will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business. He has worked at the beef unit for nearly two years, and his favorite memory is building the new tie rail for the halter bulls in the preview barn. Joey hopes to one day raise elite Angus show cattle that can compete on both the local and national levels — and maybe become rich and famous along the way, of course.
After graduation, Joey will be working as a field scout for Agricultural Advisors, where he will inspect orchards for pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies using tools such as insect traps and nut samples.

Congrats again to our student employee Joey Hutchinson. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!🐾🐂

March is National Agriculture Month 🌱

Agriculture is the backbone of our lives. Without agriculture, we wouldn’t have the food, fiber, or resources we rely on every single day. That’s why teaching agriculture to the next generation is so important—it helps ensure that agriculture continues to grow, innovate, and feed our world.

Hands-on opportunities like working at the units at the Chico State Farm—whether it’s beef, dairy, crops, sheep, or anything in-between, allow students to experience agriculture firsthand. These experiences teach responsibility, hard work, and the science behind producing the food we depend on.

When students learn about agriculture, they gain an appreciation for where their food comes from and the people who produce it. By educating young people about agriculture today, we’re helping protect and sustain it for the future.

Because without agriculture, we simply can’t survive🌾 🌱
