π± Growing Healthy Kids. Growing Strong Communities. π±
At Butte County Local Food Network, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow, taste, explore, and connect with where their food comes from.
Through our GROWN (Growing Resilient Optimism With Nature) program, we're bringing hands-on garden education to students from preschool through high school across Butte County.
π
What we do:
πΏ Teach over 1,750 students each year
π« Partner with 12+ schools and preschools
π± Support 4 community gardens
π Work alongside 20+ local farm partners
π Provide 100+ garden lessons annually
Our lessons go far beyond gardening. Students learn about:
π₯ Healthy eating and nutrition
πΌ Pollinators and ecosystems
π Growing and harvesting food
π©βπ³ Cooking with fresh ingredients
β»οΈ Composting and sustainability
π Caring for the environment
β€οΈ Building confidence through hands-on learning
Every seed planted is an opportunity to inspire curiosity, encourage healthy habits, and create the next generation of local food advocates.
None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our schools, farmers, volunteers, donors, and community partners. Thank you for helping us grow something truly special here in Butte County.
π Local food. Strong communities. Bright futures.

It sure is hot outside π₯΅π₯π
But our kids still found time to work in the garden!
We found pumpkins, cucumbers and radishes growing. And inside, Farmer Shelly helped us with our arts and crafts making our own little butterflies! Butte County Local Food Network
