Hello to all!
It's a bit early, but not too early to remind you that on Nov. 4th,
we'll be having our second ASPT Caucus meeting in San Diego at the
Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina.
Our meeting won't begin until 7:00PM as the State Senate Plenary
meeting, with all its breakouts, etc., will be occupying all meeting
rooms until it concludes at 5:00 that evening. However, for those
interested, and those flying in, we'd thought it would be nice to
begin the evening with a casual get together over dinner from
5:00-7:00PM.
David Milroy, who lives in San Diego, has offered to reserve a spot
for us at the Sheraton's restaurant so as we get closer, we'll be
sending out RSVP's so he knows just how many people might be opting
for dinner prior to our meeting.
Any part timer who is interested in attending our meeting is welcome
to join us--AND it's completely free!! Let your colleagues know and
encourage them to join our list serve so they can receive pertinent
info as it comes up. You might also direct them to our very cool
website (which hopefully you've all checked out...:-)

I'd like to remind you that we will be looking over the resolutions
posted on our Caucus website and would appreciate your looking over
them and prioritizing the three you think most critical for us to
bring back to the Sate Senate. While these resolutions might have been
passed with good intentions, too few of them have actually been
embraced, so we want to focus on at least three of them (why your
input is important) and forward them to the Senate Executive officers
to remind and ask them--you passed them--why aren't they being
implemented? You can access our resolution directly by going to: http://asptfacultycaucus.info/resolutions.html
Even if you can't attend our meeting, I'd appreciate you looking them
over and letting me know directly which three or four you think we
should focus on. If you can't attend, send your priority resolutions
to me directly ([email protected]) and I'll make sure to bring them
to our meeting.
Additionally, we are going to be looking over our bylaws and deciding
whether they might need tweaking since first approving them in April.
Some of us think they do, so you're input during this discussions will
be extremely helpful. We'll also be voting to confirm Pamela Hanford,
currently our Interim Communication Director (as well as our web
master) as our permanent CD.
I hope LOTS of you can attend our next meeting, Friday, Nov 4. I'll
be sending out other reminders, asking to see if you're interested in
a pre-meeting dinner, but there's no time like now to put this on your
calendar!
Looking forward to a great meeting! If you have any questions, please
don't hesitate to contact me.

The purpose of this caucus is to discuss and promote awareness of the academic and professional matters of over 45,000 part-time, non-tenured faculty within the California Community College system.
There are a great many issues that pertain to part-time faculty in a particular manner that is different from the tenured faculty issues.
As a caucus, we intend to be very active and represent these concerns, issues and needs of current part-time faculty.
