Camp Fire Respite Care 11/13/2018

RESPITE CARE

To help assist those in need, Family First will be offering respite care to families of children with a developmental disability who have been displaced or severely effected by the Camp fire, free of charge.

***

Each of us in this community has been affected, either directly or indirectly, by the devastating wildfire still burning throughout the area. The tragic loss of life, homes, and businesses has been heartbreaking. Yet, in the midst of this ongoing crisis, we have seen an overwhelming response from the community to provide for the well-being of those whose lives have been turned upside down by it. We are honored to be a part of this community, and this effort.

For families of developmentally disabled children, managing even the common, day to day tasks of living can be a significant challenge. In a time of crisis, that challenge can quickly become overwhelming. Our hope is to give these families some time to reflect, to mourn, to attend to the needs of friends and loved ones, or to address the vital tasks related to bringing safety and stability back into their lives.

If you or someone you know is in need of respite care due to the Camp fire, please fill out the accompanying questionnaire. A staff behavioral therapist will travel to your current location and provide up to two hours of onsite respite care. Priority will be determined based on need and staff availability.
