It's been a great day at the 7th Annual Regional North State Together Cradle-to-Career Summit, From Learning Spaces to Workplaces! The focus is on creating economic mobility through sharing resources, aligning efforts, and building sustainable cross-sector partnerships. Courtney Farrell, Project Manager for the North State Planning and Development Collective, had the honor of facilitating a discussion with California Chief Deputy Treasurer, California State Treasurer Fiona Ma's Office, Patrick Henning (pictured below). Farrell and Henning are pictured below, right, with Billy Miller, Dean of Extended Education Shasta College/North State Together.

We interrupt our regularly scheduled Monday programming to introduce you to the new president and CEO of the Redding Chamber of Commerce... Todd Jones!

Todd is a North State Native, raised in Weaverville. He loves Shasta County and for the past 8 years has served as president of the Shasta EDC. After high school, he joined the US Marine Corps and served as a Topographical Intelligence Specialist, serving primarily in Washington DC, and Okinawa, Japan. He then went on to Humboldt State University where he earned a Political Science Degree. Todd also holds an MBA from Western Governors University.

Todd worked for Congressman Wally Herger in his Redding Field Office until his retirement. Upon his retirement, Todd was selected to attend the Coro Center for Civic Leadership’s Fellowship in Public Affairs and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area with a multitude of different entities. After the Coro Fellowship, he returned to Redding with his wife Ericka to start a family and now is the proud father of three boys, Hunter, Zach, and Tanner.

Help us give him a warm, chamber welcome!! We're thrilled to have him!

Last week Siskiyou Economic Development Council (SED) started its Ranch Resilerator for direct marketing meat operations! It features instructors Poppy Davis, programs advisor at California FarmLink, along with livestock economist extraordinaire Kathryn Quanbeck. The Ranch Resilerator is similar to FarmLink's Resilerator program, but focuses on the particulars of selling and marketing high-quality meats. Like the Resilerator, the Ranch Resilerator covers legal and accounting structures, risk management and regulation. The Ranch Resilerator focuses on issues unique to meat production and sales, including how to manage inventory for sales fulfillment, profitability, and cash flow. The Resilerator and the Ranch Resilerator both begin with an extensive self-evaluation and conclude with participants meeting one on one with instructors to create a specific plan for how they will develop their business in the coming year. Ranch Resilerators are also eligible to participate in the many other resources offered through Siskiyou Economic Development Corporation's Agccelerator Program. FarmLink is excited to partner with SED and looks forward to continuing to develop new programs and services for California's farmers and ranchers!
