Today, we honor Juneteenth - a powerful day in American history that commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of freedom finally reached the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas.

Juneteenth reminds us not only of the delayed justice that followed emancipation, but also of the enduring strength, resilience, and contributions of Black Americans throughout our nation’s history.

At the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma, we recognize the importance of education, reflection, and continued progress. As an alumni community, we are committed to uplifting diverse voices, honoring our shared history, and building a more inclusive future together.

Today, we reflect. We celebrate. And we continue the work.

This Memorial Day, the USAO Alumni Association pauses to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to freedom will never be forgotten.

We are especially grateful for the alumni and family members within our Drover community who have served and sacrificed for the United States. Because of them, we enjoy the opportunities and freedoms we hold dear every day.
