What a morning for Drover Golf! ⛳

USAO Golf kicked off its tournament at Winter Creek this morning with 21 teams, community partners like Riverwind adding to the excitement, and USAO alumni proudly showing up in their Drover gear to support the program.

Winter Creek has been part of this story from the very beginning, hosting this tournament every year since USAO brought golf back in 2019.

This tournament is also a great reminder of just how far Drover Golf has come. Since 2019, the program has grown from a fresh start to a national ranking and, this past season, the men’s first NAIA National Championship appearance!

We’re incredibly thankful for Luke Burns, Steve Holden and Bruce Renfroe, along with the staff and mentors who have each helped build this program. We’re very excited to see Jaxen Brewer, one of our own USAO Drovers, continue propelling it forward as Coach.

Congratulations to everyone who has worked to make today’s tournament such a success. Seven years of growth, 21 teams on the course today, and a lot to be proud of!

There is nothing quite like Move-In Day at USAO.

Campus is full of energy as we welcome our students home, and we could not be more excited for the year ahead. Our incredible student volunteers, event staff and Admissions team are out in full force, welcoming students and families and helping make Freshmen feel like they belong from the moment they arrive.

For the USAO Foundation and Alumni Association, days like today are a reminder of exactly why we do what we do. These are the students we get to know, encourage and support. We will watch them find their place here, discover what they are capable of and eventually cross the stage as proud USAO alumni.

Welcome back, Drovers. We cannot wait to see what you do this year. 💚💛

Imagine changing the future of a university without ever stepping foot on its campus.

That’s the legacy of Nellie Sparks.

After Nellie’s death while attending college in Missouri, her father, J.B. Sparks, donated the land that would become the Oklahoma College for Women so future generations of young women could pursue a college education closer to home.

More than a century later, that gift continues to shape the lives of students at USAO.

As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we’re reminded that history isn’t only written by presidents, inventors, and famous names. Sometimes it’s written by ordinary families whose generosity changes the lives of people they’ll never meet.

Take a walk through history at USAO.
