The Summer Institute on Field Experiments

The Summer Institute on Field Experiments The brightest young researchers partnering with firms seeking to revolutionize the way they do business using the power of field experiments.

July 9-13, 2017 at the University of Chicago. The Summer Institute on Field Experiments (SIFE) is a highly selective and innovative program at the University of Chicago that brings together the brightest young economists in the world and companies interested in using rigorous field experiment methods and behavioral economics to revolutionize the way they do business. The Institute seeks organizati

on partners who are willing to be "matched" to the most promising of the Institute's participants to work together and design solutions to problems they face. Organization partners will share their business challenges, and the Institute's academics help them to scientifically test new ideas and solutions. The Institute is led by University of Chicago economics professor and chairman John List, and features lectures by the world's leading economists. Co-organizers include Luigi Butera, Research Scholar at the University of Chicago, and Michael Price, Associate Professor in the Economics Department at Georgia State University. The Summer Institute is funded by a generous grant from the Laura and John Arnold Foundation. Thank you to our partner, the University of Chicago.

Congratulations to Department of Economics chairman John List, named The NonProfit Times Power & Influence Top 50 Innovator for the second year in a row! List’s "field study of philanthropic behavior is catching the eyes of academics and practitioners," according to NPT vice president and editorial director Paul Clolery, while the "depth of [his] research and writing has created a buzz particularly regarding high capacity donors." http://www.thenonprofittimes.com/news-articles/making-b-c-suite-work-distinguishes-executives/

If you ask nonprofit executives the one thing about which they feel certain during 2016 the answer surely would be uncertainty. Here’s the list: A presidential election that probably will resemble Ali v. Frazier I; Bond and stock exchanges moving inversely to their historic norms; and, Rapid and som...

WaPo: Airline pilot intervention so cost-effective, it "outperforms every other reported carbon abatement technology of which we are aware.” Read how Gosnell, Metcalfe, and List's new research could improve fuel efficiency and reduce air travel's "carbon footprint."

The research, by driving lower fuel use, prevented the emission of over 21,000 tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.
