In the third Student Spotlight episode, host Brigid Curran Hackett viturally sits down with DePaul Finance student Jose Garcia to discuss his unique journey entering the world of finance. Jose served in the United States Marine Corps from 2011 to 2017 where he helped the U.S. conduct operations in both the U.S. and Japan. After his service, he decided to pursue his higher education academic journey, beginning at a community college before transferring to DePaul. Jose currently interns as a PPP intern at Wintrust and post-graduation, will begin his full-time role at BMO Capital Markets as a corporate banking analyst this summer. Join Jose and Brigid as they talk about Jose's time in the military, tips for transfer students, how to succeed at DePaul, and everything in between!

Meet Bevon Joseph, DePaul Graduate and Co-Founder of non-profit program the Greenwood Project. Like many students, Joseph took an interesting route before landing at DePaul and graduating in 2019, at the age of 41 years old. Before attending DePaul, Joseph’s first experience with finance was on the trading floor in New York City at the JPMorgan Chase headquarters. At the time he did not have any prior knowledge of the finance world, and was working in technology support. The high paced energy of the trading floor in New York helped spark his passion in finance. Meet Lauren Lewis, the Graphic Designer and Social Media Manager, she is a senior graphic design major from Chicago! Lauren has been a part of the Marketing and Communications team with the Finance Department since spring quarter her freshman year. Outside of work and class Lauren enjoys doing film photography and has recently started taking pottery classes in her free time. This summer Lauren traveled with her family to Washington DC, where she spent a week exploring the nation's great monuments and fabulous restaurants!

Diya chose DePaul not only because she wanted to attend a well-respected and renowned university but also because she wanted to experience city life. DePaul’s access to the financial district and its boundless internship opportunities were also contributing factors in Diya’s decision to attend. Meet Marketing team member Brigid Curran Hackett, a senior majoring in Film & Television with a directing concentration. She has been a part of the Digital Media team since her sophomore year and loves the remarkable people she has met conducting interviews for the podcast and Finance Fridays! This summer Brigid traveled to South Carolina, Colorado, and Cincinnati, worked on numerous films, and enjoyed snuggles with her cats!
