LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Masamichi (Marro) Inoue, associate professor in the Department of Modern & Classical Languages, Literatures & Cultures, will be the new College of Arts & Sciences International Village Living Learning Program faculty director starting Fall 2020.

The 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new illness that was first identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, with patients reporting cases of fever and acute respiratory illness. Since that time, other countries, including the U.S., have seen cases of the illness.

Apply to be a part of the International Village Living and Learning Program (IV LLP) for Fall 2020! International Village is for 1st year students ( freshman) of any major. You can apply to be a part of IV LLP through your housing application. All IV students live in Blazer Hall, near the Gatton Student Center. Students accepted into the International Village can start their room selection as early as March 9th!

About the International Village Community
The International Village provides students with a meaningful international experience right on UK’s campus. Conveniently located in Blazer Hall, students in the International Village enjoy learning about the world from and with each other. Room assignments pair students from differing backgrounds, and dedicated programming offers opportunities to explore others’ cultures and develop international friendships. Through cultural and recreational programming, as well as through connected coursework, students will have regular interactions with faculty, upper class peer mentors, and staff dedicated to supporting their academic success at the University of Kentucky.

International Village is open to all first-year students of any major and former International Village members. Our community is comprised of international and domestic students. Our international students come from all over the world. International Village is a natural choice for students majoring in any of the languages, anthropology, linguistics, international studies, sociology or ethnic studies and is a valuable opportunity for any student interested in other cultures or considering studying abroad.
Students in International Village will:
• Have dedicated faculty, campus leaders, staff and peer mentors to help you with your transition to campus life.
• Participate in a three credit hour connected course that counts toward the UK Core requirement “Global Dynamics”.
• Enjoy casual, weekly get-togethers featuring guest speakers, snacks, and culturally themed fun activities on and off campus.
• Experience the best way to form friendships and gain insight into the programs and resources available on campus that will help you evolve and define your passion.
Location
All students who participate in International Village will reside in Blazer Hall located on north campus near the Gatton Student Center and Champions Kitchen. Blazer Hall remains open during holidays and the winter/spring breaks. We offer 2 bedroom suites and several 4 bedroom suites that are reserved for our community in Blazer Hall.
