Health informatics is revolutionizing patient care, and leaders like Dana Aronson Schinasi, MD, are at the forefront of this transformation.

In Northwestern’s online MS in Health Informatics program, Schinasi brought her expertise as a pediatric emergency medicine physician and digital health leader to the classroom during a pivotal moment—the COVID-19 pandemic.

In her current role as Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, Schinasi highlights the power of informatics by bridging the gap between technology and clinical care.

Congratulations Christine Fiorite, Assistant Director of Language Support and Academic Skills, who recently completed a prestigious two-week assignment in Bahrain through the US Department of State's English Language Programs. Fiorite was among approximately 250 specialists selected last year for this program, which the State Department describes as "the premier opportunity for leaders in TESOL to enact meaningful and sustainable changes in English teaching abroad."

In Bahrain, Fiorite led professional development workshops for English language teachers on Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a framework for making education more accessible and effective.

"One of the biggest takeaways [from this experience] was realizing how much teachers have in common no matter where they are in the world," Fiorite says. "Being chosen for this project was an honor. I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute my expertise while engaging in meaningful cultural exchange and professional collaboration with Bahraini educators."

This year for their holiday party, the SPS marketing and creative department decided to do something a little different. Hoping to pass along some seasonal cheer, they tapped into their creative sides to stuff and decorate some "comfort buddies" for the patients at Lurie Children's Hospital down the block. We love the fun details on each critter's accessories!
