That clock doesn't start when they're ready. It starts when they receive your request.
Put the date on everything!!!

✅ Submit by email AND hand-deliver a copy
✅ Keep your dated copy
✅ Follow up in writing at 30 days
✅ If they miss it...that's a federal violation under IDEA. Document it.

ADHD is not a "hyper boy" disorder. That image has cost a generation of girls a diagnosis.
The most common type in girls is Inattentive ADHD. These kids are not bouncing off walls. They're sitting quietly at their desk, drowning. By middle school, many have developed anxiety and depression on top of undiagnosed ADHD...because they spent years being told they weren't trying hard enough.

What to look for:
✅ Difficulty starting tasks even when they want to
✅ Brilliant one day, can't function the next ✅ Emotional sensitivity that seems out of proportion
✅ Hours on tasks that should take 20 minutes A comprehensive evaluation identifies what's actually happening.

🧩This one is for parents AND teachers. Both of you need to hear this.

In behavioral psychology, we say: all behavior is communication. That means every time a child is acting out, shutting down, running from the classroom, hitting, melting down, or refusing to work, they are telling us something. The problem is we are so focused on stopping the behavior that we never stop to ask what it is communicating.

A child who refuses to read aloud might be communicating: I am terrified of being embarrassed in front of my peers.

A child who hits might be communicating: I do not have the words for what I am feeling right now.

A child who runs from the classroom might be communicating: This environment is completely overwhelming my nervous system.

Punishing the behavior without understanding the function behind it is like unplugging a fire alarm because you don't like the noise. The fire is still burning.

Ask these three questions first:
📍What is happening right before the behavior?
📍What does the child get or avoid because of the behavior?
📍What skill might they be missing that the behavior is compensating for?
