Today, we celebrate the man who started it all.
Happy Birthday to Blessed Edmund Ignatius Rice, born on June 1, 1762. A man of deep faith and radical generosity, Edmund Rice gave up a life of comfort and wealth to educate the poorest children in Waterford, Ireland; and in doing so, planted a seed that would grow into schools, communities, and brotherhoods across the world, including right here on 99th and Pulaski.
Every Crusader who walks through our doors is part of the legacy he began. Today, we honor his memory and renew our commitment to the mission he gave his life to build.

Very exciting news! Brother Rice is pleased to introduce two new school leaders joining the Crusader Community. Patrick McGowan as our Dean of Spiritual Life and Father Kevin Gregus as school chaplain. Both men have incredible backgrounds in Catholic education and we can't wait to have them here in the fall. Brother Rice believes the greatest gift is a Catholic Education and with revitalized leadership we aim to constantly provide that gift to young men on the South Side. Read more at the link below.

On behalf of the entire Brother Rice community, we honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the foundation of the freedoms we enjoy every day — and it will never be forgotten.
To the Crusaders, alumni, and families who have served or who have lost someone in service to this nation — thank you. We hold you in our prayers.
