Official Statement from One Church One School Regarding The Passing of Civil Rights Icon, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr.

One Church One School joins the nation in honoring the life and legacy of Jesse L. Jackson, whose voice for justice, dignity, and opportunity shaped generations.

Our organization holds a particularly meaningful connection to this moment of reflection. Bishop Henry M. Williamson Sr., founder of One Church One School, served closely alongside Rev. Jackson in national civic leadership. Bishop Williamson served as National President of PUSH, People United to Serve Humanity, from 1991 to 1993, working in direct partnership with Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr., and continued his service on the National Board of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. Their relationship extended beyond shared platforms and public service. They remained close friends, united by a common commitment to uplifting children, strengthening families, and empowering communities through faith and education.

The work of One Church One School has always stood at the intersection of church and community, education and advocacy. That vision was nurtured in rooms where giants gathered. The declaration “I Am Somebody” was not simply a chant. It was a theological and civic affirmation that every child possesses worth, potential, and divine purpose.

As National President, I am personally grateful to have sat at the feet of leaders such as Rev. Jesse Jackson. His example, alongside Bishop Williamson’s steadfast leadership, reminds us that faith must be active, organized, and committed to justice.

We honor Rev. Jackson’s life not only with words, but with renewed resolve. We will continue mentoring. We will continue building partnerships between churches and schools. We will continue declaring to every child in every partnership city that they are valued, capable, and called.

We extend our prayers to his family, colleagues, and all who were shaped by his ministry and movement. His voice echoes on, and the charge remains clear.

We will keep hope alive by carrying the work forward.

Happy Birthday to our Founder Bishop Henry M. Willaimsom Sr.

Today we pause to honor and celebrate the life, vision, and legacy of Bishop Henry M. Williamson Sr. — the visionary who believed that when churches and schools unite, children thrive and communities are transformed.

Because of his unwavering dedication, countless students have been encouraged, protected, mentored, and given the opportunity to see their God-given potential. His leadership continues to shape our work, guide our mission, and inspire a new generation of servant-leaders.

Bishop Williamson’s belief was simple yet powerful:
“Every child deserves a village—and every village must stand together.”

On this special day, we thank God for his life, his service, and his prophetic commitment to education, justice, and community uplift.

🎂 Happy Birthday, Bishop!
