The staff of Student Leadership Development has been greatly affected by the events of the past week. The words sadness, anger and disgust don't seem strong enough to describe how we feel, not only about what happened to George Floyd, but what people of color, especially those in the black community, face daily in this country. Our hope is that you, the student leaders of NEIU, will be the ones to finally create positive change. Demand more from the world. You deserve it.

As students many of you may be feeling powerless and wondering what you can do. Not everyone is able to protest. Not everyone has money to donate. But you can learn. You can challenge those in your life who make hateful comments. You can speak out when you see injustice. You can recognize your own privilege. You can do acts of service. You can be kind to each other. And if you are able to... you can vote.
