Today, April 30th, is the official Dia del Niño. Last Saturday we hosted our own Chicago Dia de los Niños Parade & Celebration! It was truly a successful event as measured by the smiles of the children. We also know it took a village and we could not have done it without the CDDLN committee, sponsors and volunteers, especially the volunteers from Northside College Prep, Juarez Community Academy and the dancers directed by Victor Soria. If I miss somebody, please let me know immediately. Mil Gracias to Robert Blease, Victor Soria, Dr. Karime Asaf, Liliana Aceves, Al Ramirez, Leonor Ramirez, Sol Solis, Maya Solis. We want to congratulate Christian Duarte! Today he had a ribbon-cutting ceremony for his new business Cali-Juana Dawgz INC. The best tasting hot dogs! Cali Juana Dawgz is located at 2333 S. Cicero in Cicero, right in the Menard's parking lot. I hope you can visit him. He's one of the sponsors of Chicago Dia de los Niños parade. I can attest his food is delicious!

Chicago Dia de los Niños and Finkl Academy parents had the privilege of decorating the "Mexico" tree at the Museum of Science and Industry's Christmas Around the World Exhibit. We are so excited by the creative work led by Liliana Aceves and Leonardo Ramirez. Shout out to the principal of Finkl Academy, Nancy Quintana, for providing the space, especially the parents who helped make this vision come true. Patrons of the museum tell us they look forward to our tree because it's always unique and all handmade. This year the state of Jalisco is highlighted, it's known for its mariachis. Hope you can visit. Have a Feliz Navidad.

Parents from Finkl Elementary, in collaboration with CDDLN, are excited about making the ornaments for the "Mexico" tree at the Museum of Science and Industry Christmas Around the World Exhibit. Each year, new dolls are handmade and people look forward to our new theme. "What's new on the Mexico tree this year?" You must see the exhibits to see the final product. Showcasing our Mexican culture is important especially at turmoil times like today.
