One of the most important things you can do as a drummer is develop a good intuitive sense of a 4 measure phrase, especially in rock and jazz. Once you develop this, you can just feel it without having to count every measure, which allows you to play more freely and creatively. In this video I trade 4's back and forth with the other musicians during the drum solo section.

I have a used fully functional 5 pc drum kit for sale if anyone is interested.
This kit is great for a beginning student / player, who doesn't want to spend a ton of money on a new kit. There are a few items not included you would need to complete the kit like, hi hat stand, drum seat, cymbals and bass drum pedal. But all the drums are there. Only $250 so you will have plenty left over to spend on those other items to make the kit complete.

One of my more advanced former students, Peter, playing drums on Renegade (Deep Purple) with the Arlington Heights which he was a member of while I was teaching him. Peter is now in college studying drums and sound engineering.
