Disney II is OUR public school, and for the first time, we are one school in two buildings. We are 665 students giving their all each and every day. We are a team of exceptional teachers who continually inspire our students in the classroom. We are an administration who has launched the first ever non-selective enrollment academic center and high school
in the city. We are a community of dedicated families who work tirelessly to ensure that our school has the resources it needs to be great. Disney II stands apart from other schools because every child does well here. We don’t accept an achievement gap; every student matters. At Disney II, students have a stake in their community. Illinois is currently ranked 50th in state funding for education. This year the Chicago Public Schools cut $68 million in classroom spending, and Disney II lost approximately 20% of our funding. In a survey last spring, our families voted to keep our class sizes small; yet smaller class size means less money from CPS. It’s basic math… the fewer students we accept the less money we get to fund our school. In order to maintain our level of excellence and keep the academic programs, curriculum, and enrichment classes that make our school great, we need YOU, the Disney II community, to close the financial gap. Last year, well over half of all Disney II families donated to the school, and many more donated their time or connected the school to important resources. This year, as we kick off our fundraising efforts with our Annual Fund, we are once again asking every Disney II family to donate $450 per student to help us close the funding gap.
