Jacob (Jake) Matig, Ph.D., has joined the UIC College of Business Administration’s Professional Development and Communication Programs as a Lecturer, teaching BA 200: Business Communication. He comes to UIC after nearly eight years at Miami University’s Farmer School of Business.
Before entering academia, he spent more than a decade in healthcare communications and marketing at TriHealth, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and Mercy Health System of Northwest Arkansas. That experience shapes his approach in the classroom, where students practice writing, speaking, and collaborating under conditions that mirror the workplaces they are heading into.
Jake’s research interests lie at the intersection of interpersonal communication, health communication, and persuasion. Jake is looking forward to joining the UIC Business community and to teaching in a city where his students’ future employers are a short walk from campus.
