NEWS: I’m leading 1,300 youth from 3 countries to create 20,000 Blessing Bags for people experiencing homelessness this Giving Tuesday. 🌍💙
What started as a small idea in my living room has grown into one of the biggest youth-led Giving Tuesday movements in the world. Young people everywhere are stepping up, choosing compassion, and showing that we can make real impact when we come together.
I’m proud of every youth joining this mission and grateful for the support that helps us keep serving. This is what leadership looks like. This is what community looks like. This is what we can do.
December 2… let’s make history again. 🙌🏾✨

Dear CPS Staff and Families,
With the shutdown of the federal government still in place, we know that some families may be concerned about losing access to their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. If the shutdown is not resolved, and the government does not intervene to continue funding this program, benefits are scheduled to expire for all SNAP recipients this Saturday — November 1, 2025.
This situation WILL NOT impact our students’ ability to receive meals at school. Every CPS student will continue to have access to free breakfast and lunch at school every day.
Regardless, we know that the potential loss of SNAP benefits, even temporarily, will be of great concern to those who rely on this assistance to put food on the table. Fortunately, there are resources that can help families obtain healthy meals and groceries during this potentially challenging time.
Families can visit the We Got You Illinois website for a comprehensive list of food pantries, meal programs, and food distribution partners, including hours and locations, throughout Chicago and Cook County. This week, Governor Pritzker signed an Executive Order to provide an additional $20 million in funding to support programs that feed hungry families during this time of increased need. Families can also call the Healthy Kids Hotline at (773) 553-KIDS (5437) for assistance in finding food options in Chicago.
We thank you for your continued partnership and will provide you with additional updates as this situation unfolds.
Sincerely,
Chicago Public Schools
