Hey y'all, one of my students is doing a study on Facebook usage in older adults (ages 65+). If you are in this age range, please take this survey! Or share it with people who are over 65. This is an important study because most research on the effects of social media are done using a sample of teenagers or young adults, even though Facebook is the most popular social media platform for older adults. So this will be the first type of study to examine these effects in older adults.

After A Su***de, Sibling Survivors Are Often Overlooked Recent studies show that people who survive a brother or sister's su***de are at great risk of mood disorders and mental health problems, including thoughts of harming themselves.

Texas has the highest maternal mortality rate in the entire developed world! Maternal mortality is defined as dying while pregnant, during birth, or within a year of giving birth (excluding things like car accidents and non pregnancy related illnesses). What's going on here? Lack of access to health care? Lack of health education? Higher rates of other health problems? Researchers are trying to identify possible explanations.

Why does Texas have the highest maternal death rate in the developed world? Texas has the highest rate of maternal mortality in all of the developed world. One lawmaker hopes a task force will determine why this is.
